About the New Independent Film L.A. HIT:

Din Kalia a lonely taxi driver who hears all the good things happening into his passengers' lives, is going through some troubled times. One night he gives a ride to two passengers, Russell Law and Gus Vincent. They seems to be pretty normal at first, but then reveal their true identity as killers on mission. Din being helpless has to drive them around while they kill people who are somehow related to him either professionally or personally while he's the last one on their list, but later on as he finds out the reason for their killing these innocent people; He seems to support their reasons and madness behind these ruthless murders. Going deeper into the rabbit hole, Din finds himself actually helping them at some point, until LAPD catches up to him.

I am probably the biggest fan of director Michael Mann. The first film of Michael Maan I watched was 'The Insider', and then 'Heat', once I saw these two Hollywood Classics, I became his biggest fan. There is something about the filmmaking style of Michael Mann that grabs you from the first frame; the jerkiness of the camera, the rugged dialogs, his signature shot of shooting from behind the actors' perspective, and especially his love for crime drama. I was waiting for his new movie to come out, and once I heard that Michael Man was making a movie with my favorite actor Tom Cruise, I just couldn't wait. Collateral, which is mainly the root of L.A. Hit, was perhaps a goldmine for a low budget Independent filmmaker like myself. His use of the 'Red Camera', and using just on location as Taxi with some sub locations gave a glimpse of the bright future for people like me, how no longer did you need a crew of 100 people, cranes, lights, and 35mm film; all you needed was just a camera and small tools to make your film look just as good as a Hollywood block buster. This film is a thank you to Michael Mann. Althought the story is totally different from Collateral, yet, using Taxi as a single location was the best idea Mr. Mann came up with. My work is a shadow of his imagination.

May Bollywood producers and director copy Hollywood filmmakers, their movies and shows; its okay to get an idea from others' original work and craft as long as you give proper credit to them, and their work. If more Bollywood Producers did this, perhaps they'll gain more respect in NRI community around the world.
